Kindergarten Field Trip

The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden

 

Dear Kindergarten Families,

The kindergarten classes will be going to The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden on Friday, May 2. The cost is $8.00. All students will ride the school bus to and from the zoo. The bus will leave MWE at 9:15 and arrive back to school at 2:00. Students will need to wear comfortable shoes and clothing to the zoo and bring a packed lunch plus a drink. If you would prefer to have a lunch provided by the school cafeteria, please make the appropriate selection during registration.

If you would like to be a chaperone the cost is $8.00. Zoo passes are not permitted. Parent chaperones are not permitted on the school bus. We recommend carpooling. The cost to park at the zoo is $10. Zoo passes may be used for parking. No other children are permitted on the field trip (siblings, children you babysit, etc.). Each chaperone will be with his/her child and may have one additional child to monitor while at the zoo. Chaperones will need to bring a bag such as a backpack to carry the lunches for your group and other necessary items for the day.

Important information about our zoo field trip:

Students and chaperones will meet in the classroom by 9:10 a.m. on Friday, May 2 for our zoo field trip to check-in and put lunches in chaperone bags. Chaperones are free to go once they check-in.

We will begin boarding the buses at 9:15 a.m.

We will return by 2:00 p.m. which means all students must be back to the buses by 1:30.

Students and chaperones will need to bring a lunch plus a drink. Don’t forget to put your name on it. There is no designated lunch time/location. Lunch is on your own.

Nametags will be provided by the classroom teacher for students and chaperones.

Please do not send extra money for the train, snacks or souvenirs.

All chaperones will need a background check prior to the May 2 field trip. Please email a copy of your driver’s license to Kelsey.dwenger@southwestschools.org in the school office ASAP so we can plan accordingly.

We will go to the zoo rain or shine so dress your child for the weather.
